This is an ever evolving collection of Frequently Asked Questions that I and others get when discussing all facets of church security and church safety.  They are categorized broadly to make it easy to get your questions answer quickly.  If there is a question that you don’t see answered here, head over to our podcast page to ask away.

The goal is to develop a comprehensive collection of FAQs that can be reference but others and also be updated as new best practices are discovered. “The Most Common Question I get…..” type of questions.   Also at our Resources page (thanks to great team at DuoGeek) are additional resources beyond just the Q&A.

FAQ - My Church Security - Who should get a Background Check?

Red Flag Answer: "We don't need to do background checks on anyone", "We can't afford to do background checks"

Yellow Flag Answer: "We only do it on people that have access to money"

Green Flag Answer: "We do this on all employees"

Gold Flag Answer: "We do this on all volunteers & employees"

Proof Question: Can you provide physical evidence of each background check that has been done, passed and failed?

Best Practice: All employees and volunteers should have a background check.  The level of background check and criteria for pass/fail should be adjusted for say, pastors vs. counselors vs. people with physical access to children vs. people with access to financial aspects of the church.
